What would happen if snakes went extinct?

Rodent, amphibian, and all other species which once were eaten by the snakes will increase dramatically, over-consuming their own prey, such as plants, which will eventually lead to a major collapse in all of those populations. If one species disappears, the entire ecosystem in which it once lived will suffer.
